The business of the World Social Dance Committe is controlled by the structure and guidelines of the WDC Ltd, which the Social Dance Members improve and update at the annual meetings of the World Social Dance Committee. Under the Articles of Association, Regulations and Guidelines, of the WDC Ltd, every Member is encouraged to adopt the structure of the Council and form a Social Dance section within their organisation. The World Social Dance Committee Register is a listing of the Social Dance organisations and/or Social Dance contacts in each of the Members of the Council.
As a standing committee of the WDC Ltd the World Social Dance Committee deals with, and recommends to, the General Council business improvemnets for Social Dance professionals and their Dance Schools.

The general buisness of the Social Dance section is looked after by the Social Dance Executive Board, (SDEB), which is elected every three years by the Social Dance Members at the annual meeting of the World Social Dance Committee. For many years the annual World Social Dance Congress was held during the Blackpool Dance Festival, in England. Following a break with this tradition in 2005 it was decided to take the World Social Dance Congress "on the road". Member countries are now invited to apply to present this special annual event in their country at time of their choice. This idea has been taken on board by the Members who have secured the World Social Dance Congress for 2006 and 2007.

Euro Dance Centers can be found in almost all the European countries belonging to the European Union. With the addition of new countries and more to follow this will cover virtually all of the European Members of the WDC Ltd. Some countries outside the EU are also using this concept. The latest development is that countries outside the EU are using the same concept, where they are known as World Dance Centers. Each of these Dance Schools displays the WDC Ltd Euro or World Dance Center Logo. These logos define to the General Public that the School is affiliated to the WDC Ltd.

The actual number of Dance Schools worldwide, providing instruction on dance on a weekly basis is unknown. The different styles of Dance taught in these Dance Schools varies from region to region and continent to continent. The WDC Ltd Social Dance Executive Board is attempting to create the world's most comprehensive Directory of Dance Schools. Dance Schools recognised by a Member organisation of the WDC Ltd, are invited to fill out an Application Form for inclusion in this directory.

In WDC Ltd affiliated recognised Dance Schools worldwide, the instruction on dance is provided by qualified professionals. Dance Teachers have qualified in various styles of dance to provide a service to the region in which they live. The WDC Ltd Social Dance Executive Board is also attempting to create the world's largest Directory of Dance Teachers. Dance Teachers currently employed by recognised Dance Schools of a WDC Ltd Member organisation are invited to fill out an Application Form for inclusion in this directory.

A part of the Dance School weekly programme are the Medal Classes for dancers who have passed through the Beginners and Improvers stages and are looking to know more about their hobby. For these dancers to test their ability against each other Local Dance Trophies were introduced, which led to National Dance Trophies and since 2003 these dancers having crossing borders to participate International Trophy events and Championships.

For a number of years the WDC Ltd World Social Dance Committee has included an "International Dance of the Year" in the annual World Social Dance Congress. The International Dance of the Year is decided by a competition among Dance Teachers, from all over the world who come together for the Congress and this special occasion to exchange ideas. The basic idea of the "Internationa Dance of the Year" is bring the whole world of the WDC Ltd Social Dance section together by dancing the same "fun" dance in all Member Countries at the same time.

The WDC Ltd Social Dance Calendar is a new feature for Social Dance Events, Meeting, Congresses etc., around the world, to be grouped together. As the Member Countries begin to contribute this will become a fascinating global collection of Social Dance activity.
